How to free your CF while in travel

Which is the best way to get more room for your photos when you are traveling? I thought about some solutions:

  1. Get a netbook with you - Pros: You can use it while you are waiting (airport, flight, hotel and so on) and you can rely on it to phone home (skype) or to email. Cons: Extra weight on your shoulders, you have a computer that honestly is not usable to do anything with your photos (too bad cpu).
  2. Get many many (many) memory card with you: Pros: you have your photos on many cards, it’s difficult that everything broke … so you can be (quite) sure you come back home with most of you photos. Cons: If I know that I have <n> gbs of storage I have doubt everytime I shoot a photo (‘is this photo ok or maybe I have to save space for the next one?’ or ‘And if I run out of space when I need it?’). I recently tryed this option when I went to Sardinia, I stayed there for 1 week and I had 12Gbs in memory card (a huge amount for me), but more than once I preferred to not shoot to save space (and I came back home with 8 Gb of free memory card).
  3. Get a device to save memory card data and be sure that I really have not any storage limitation (in theory). There are adapters to copy memory card to iPod (I have a 20Gb iPod but it’s quite old and I can’t rely on its disk). There are some device from Epson (P-2000 and so on) but from reviews I saw they are really slow … at the end I found “Nexto extreme ND2700”, it looks (by reviews I read) the fastest way to copy data from memory card to HD. Its cost is interesting (about 140 euro for 250Gb) and its damn simple interface is not really an issue (for me). You can’t see your photos but i don’t care, I need just a storage device, so it would be great (and 250Gb is a huge disk space for my habits). Pros: huge space, fast copy and cheap (it cost more than memory cards anyway). Cons: It requires to be recharged (but also the camera requires it) and if you loose it you loose everything (but there is the same problem with everything :))

So the next time I’ll travel probably I’ll do with a Nexto extreme ND2700, I have just to buy it :)
