InfoQ: Parties Fail to Agree on the HTML 5 Video Codec

There are two standard that can become the future ‘default’ format for <video> in html5, the first if H.264 (it’s quite famous), the second is Ogg_Theora (less famous but free).

By user I would prefer H.264 but as developer I prefer Ogg Theora, the problem with H.264 is that you have to pay royalty (for commercial use).

Do you want that the standard de-facto will become something that you have to pay for commercial use? I don’t think so (and it would be without sense the contrary) … let’s go Ogg Theora!
